Onyx

Onyx is another Gem working for Blue Diamond and based on one of my best friends.

Gifted with an incredible amount of knowledge about rocks and minerals as a whole, Onyxes are charged with sorting the materials carried out by the Gem Miners into their best fitting categories according to Homeworld’s needs. Construction, future Gem material and weapons are a few of those, alongside with the rejects.

They are pretty rare and valuable Gems for Homeworld. As such, this Onyx was assigned to the same colony as Goethite to monitor her and her kind’s work.

Though a bit flegmatic and devoted to her work, she quickly befriended Goethite (my own Gemsona, whose drawing is available here) and was the one to allow her to use an old ship to escape their colony and fly to Earth, knowing fully well from the Diamonds that her kind would soon be obsolete. She’s however very good at deceiving people and her “treacherous” act as not been found out yet.

She can invoke a interface with a data bank of all the minerals she inventoried from her Gem, placed on her right eye.

I tried to incorporate elements from both Sardonyx and Peridot into her design, hence her sharp-looking outfit.
